- Preparation: Install the EA App for Mac.
- Activation: If you already own the 32-bit version, the '64-bit & Metal' version should appear in your library automatically as a separate entitlement. If not, contact EA support to have it added.
- Installation: Download the 64-bit version. This version was specifically rebuilt by EA to run on modern macOS versions (Catalina and later) and translates perfectly through Rosetta 2.
- Optimization: Once installed, you must limit your frame rate. The game engine tends to over-utilize the GPU. In the game settings, enable 'Vertical Sync'.
- CrossOver / Game Porting Toolkit: While technically possible to run the older 32-bit Windows version, it is highly discouraged. The 32-bit architecture limits the game to 3.7GB of RAM regardless of your Mac's specs, leading to frequent 'Error 12' crashes that the native 64-bit Mac version largely avoids.
- Parallels Desktop: Not recommended due to significant overhead and the superior performance of the native Metal wrapper.
