Cairn
Reach a summit never climbed before in this survival-climber from the creators of Furi and Haven. Climb anywhere and plan your route carefully, managing pitons and resources to survive unforgiving Mount Kami. Discover what Aava is willing to sacrifice to achieve the ascent of a lifetime.
Cairn is currently in an 'Unsupported' state meaning it requires manual configuration via GPTK/Whisky to run, but it is playable on M-series Pro and Max chips.
What the world thinks
- Download and install Whisky (free/open-source).
- Create a new bottle named 'Cairn' and set the version to Windows 10.
- In the Bottle Configuration, ensure D3DMetal is toggled ON (this uses the GPTK 2.0 backend).
- Install the Steam Windows client into the bottle.
- Launch Steam, download Cairn, and add the launch argument:
-dx12via game properties.
- CrossOver 24+: If you prefer a paid GUI, create a Windows 10 64-bit bottle. You must right-click the bottle and enable D3DMetal and ESync. Performance is comparable to Whisky but may offer better controller support for DualSense users.
- Parallels Desktop 19/20: Generally not recommended for this title. While it will boot, the virtualization overhead results in a 40-50% frame rate loss compared to GPTK, making the precise climbing mechanics feel sluggish.
