The Biggest 2026 PC Releases You Can Play on a Mac Right Now

Most of this year's big PC releases have launched on Windows only. That does not mean Mac owners are shut out, but it does mean the right way to play each one varies, and the answer on launch day is often different from the answer three months later. This is where the major 2026 releases stand for Mac players as of late September.

A pattern runs through the whole list. For brand new Windows games, cloud streaming is almost always the first route that works on a Mac, because the game is running on a real Windows PC in a data centre. CrossOver support tends to follow weeks or months later, once CodeWeavers and the community have worked through the problems, and games with kernel level anti-cheat may never get there.

Forza Horizon 6

Playground's latest open world racer launched on 18 May, this time set in Japan. There is no Mac version, and we have not seen reliable reports of it running in CrossOver yet.

Streaming is the answer here, and it works well. Forza Horizon 6 is available on Boosteroid and on GeForce NOW. Racing games are more sensitive to latency than most, so a wired connection or strong Wi-Fi makes a real difference. The Forza Horizon 6 page has the current verdict.

007 First Light

IO Interactive's James Bond game arrived in late May and drew a large audience on launch. CodeWeavers currently rates it "Installs, Will Not Run" in CrossOver, based on testing with version 26.1, and community reports on other compatibility tools have been mixed, with crashes on launch the most common complaint.

Mistfall Hunter

This dark fantasy extraction action RPG launched on 29 July and passed half a million players quickly. You fight monsters and other players, grab what loot you can and try to make it out alive, solo or with up to two friends.

It is Windows only and, like most competitive extraction games, it is not a safe candidate for CrossOver. Boosteroid added it shortly after launch, which makes streaming the route we recommend. Details are on the Mistfall Hunter page.

The Blood of Dawnwalker

Rebel Wolves' dark fantasy RPG, from a studio founded by former Witcher 3 developers, arrived on 3 September. It is a single player game with no anti-cheat to worry about, which makes it a promising candidate for CrossOver in future, but it is too early for dependable reports.

NBA 2K27

The annual basketball release landed on 3 September and is on Boosteroid. The NBA 2K series has a mixed record under CrossOver, with online modes the usual casualty, so streaming is the safer choice if you want MyCareer and online play to work. See NBA 2K27 for details.

Last Pirates: Die Together

This co-op extraction horror comedy came out on 18 August. It is Windows only, and we have not yet confirmed a working Mac route through CrossOver or any of the major streaming services. We have flagged it for review and will update the Last Pirates: Die Together page as soon as we have a verified answer.

Why streaming comes first for new releases

It is worth understanding why the answer is so often streaming, because it will be true for most of next year's releases too.

CrossOver works by translating Windows instructions into ones macOS understands. Every new game engine, launcher and DRM system can introduce something that translation has not seen before, and it takes time for fixes to land. Anti-cheat systems that install a kernel driver will not run inside CrossOver at all, which rules out a growing number of multiplayer games permanently.

Cloud services sidestep all of that. Boosteroid, GeForce NOW and Xbox Cloud Gaming run the game on Windows hardware and stream the video to your Mac. Anti-cheat loads normally, your Mac model does not matter, and you can play on day one as long as the service has added the game. The trade-offs are latency, image quality limited by your connection, and a monthly subscription.
